  • JOB SUMMARY

    The communication coordinator/graphic designer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic Inc. reports to the Director of Communications. The position is responsible for graphic design and Internet-based initiatives organizational awareness chapter Website management and mass e-mail distribution.




    ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES



    · Manages all in-house graphic design work (approx. 20 annual projects);

    · Manages the design development and production of all collateral materials and event promotion;

    · Manages the design and distribution of electronic chapter newsletters and other mass e-mails to all foundation constituents;

    · Maintains content of chapter Web site creating and posting wish stories event photosand updating pertinent event and partnership information in a timely manner;

    · Assists with development of Social Marketing initiatives including Facebook andTwitter;

    · Assists with development and promotion of materials for internal and external special events;

    · Protects the Foundation's brand identity and ensure it is used in keeping with current Make-A-Wish Foundation of America standards in the media and external correspondence;

    · Adheres to all Make-A-Wish Foundation of America performance standards;

    · Assists the Vice President of Development and Community Relations and others in the cultivation and maintenance of donors through the annual donor appeal campaign;

    · Develops and executes outreach and marketing strategies that highlight the work of the Foundation in local print and broadcast media;

    · Develops and maintains current press lists all chapter regions;

    · Develops and cultivates relationships with the press in collaboration with the Directorof Communications and field-office staff;

    · Supports national partnerships and programs in the local media such as thefrequent-flier program and corporate sponsorships;

    · Attends various fundraisers and local events as needed in support of the Foundation's mission;

    · Other duties as assigned.




    SUPERVISION RECEIVED ANDEXERCISED

    This position reports to the Directorof Communications.


    MINIMUM EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    Education: Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design Public Relations or similar field.

    Experience: 1-3 years experience.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

    · Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign Photoshop andIllustrator) and proven Web site design and content management experience. Must be able to work in a PC environment.

    · Strong print design skills with a portfolio that includes brochuresevent collateral and signage publication layouts and other promotional pieces.

    · Attention to detail is a must.

    · Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

    · Highly professional demeanor able to work successfully with a wide variety of constituents including donors board members volunteers and professional consultants.

    · High levels of integrity trustworthiness flexibility compassion and humor are

    necessary to address the practicalities of a growing nonprofit along with the creativity and persistence required to elicit new thinking and change.

    · Ability to work with minimal supervision ability to manage multiple priorities and work

    in a deadline-driven environment.

    · Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office. Experience with Raiser's Edge database management software is a plus


    This position comes with full benefits package of free medical dental and vision insurance for the employee 403(b) 18 days PTO federal holiday schedule and an FSA plan.

    Compensation is 40-45k annually.
